Yoluk Fur Vest // Massimo Dutti Sweater // Finders Keepers Skirt // BLN Boots

Winter just isn’t complete without a cosy knit sweater, a furry vest and long leather boots.  Hong Kong might not be as chilly as Toronto, but luckily I still get a couple cooler months to break out these winter staples.  What are your cold weather must-haves?

I can’t think of a better way to kick off my first post of 2015 than to reminisce about my favourite trip of 2014.  Having visited Paris numerous of times thanks to the magic of television and the beauty of cinema, I must say that the city was everything I had imagined it to be.  I love being on foot when visiting new places, and this time, I felt like I could happily wander the streets while getting lost in the history of the architecture, the art on the walls and the story behind each glass of wine.

Highlights of my trip .. favourite shopping spot in the city: Saint Germain de Pres, best food experience: Le Dauphin, favourite cultural spot: Musee d’Orsay, best souvenir: tea from Mariage Freres and most recommended site for my next trip: Le Versailles.

“The World at My Feet” is my latest photography project which made its debut on Instagram back in March.  It’s been a long time since I’ve had the inspiration to put together a thematic body of work, but my trip to Ho Chi Minh City really opened up my eyes.  The feedback I’ve received on these photos so far have been very encouraging and I look forward to developing this series into something more concrete.  Perhaps one day it will become a project that exceeds Instagram and the digital world.

But for now, for those who don’t follow me on Instagram, please check me out at @oisfor and follow this series at #otravels and #worldatmyfeet

Back in Business

im_back-01And it’s July.

To state the obvious, I’m long overdue for a post .. so I’ll waste no time and jump right into it!  2014 has been an amazing year so far.  From work, travel and many design projects, the past couple of months have not only been busy but exciting and fulfilling.  Our gallery participated again in Art Basel Hong Kong this year and the show was extremely well received.  Having the opportunity to work with an artist as established and talented as Peng Wei has truly been the highlight of the year so far.  It was also rewarding to see that hard works pays off.

Apart from work, the past couple of months have also involved a lot of travel firsts for me.  From Ho Chi Minh City to my first trip to Europe, I’ve done the most traveling ever in 6 months time.  I had wanted to use this year to try new things and find my “purpose” in life and even though I’m still very much in the grey, my eyes have opened up to so many more possibilities.  With another 6 more months to go, I simply can’t wait to see what else is in store for me this year.

So feeling slightly more refreshed, I’ll be working hard the next little while to make sure photos get edited and posts are posted.  Please stay tuned for more!

In a blink of an eye, we’ve already reached the second month of 2014.  I bid farewell to 2013 in style and without a second to spare, dived right into 2014 with a busy start!  Traveled for work, caught up with old friends (and new), went biking in Hong Kong for the first time, fell down the stairs (and unfortunately sprained my arm) and overall made a conscious effort to stay active, It’s been an adventurous beginning and I look forward to seeing what else the Year of the Horse will bring.  Thank you for all your continuous support and can’t wait to share the new year with you!

White Christmas

Christmas 2013_r2

I’m dreaming of a white Christmas, with every Christmas card I write. May your days be merry and bright, and may all your Christmases be white.  Can’t help but think about home during the holiday season.  Wishing all my dearest friends from near and far a very Merry Christmas and may 2014 bring us all one step closer to each other.

Devon on Devonshire

There’s no better way to spend a lazy Sunday than brunching at your favourite breakfast spot.  During our last visit to Sydney, I took advantage of the city’s trendy brunch culture to try as many restaurants as possible.  One of the places we decided to check out was this little cafe called Devon in Surrey Hills.  A new addition to the neighbourhood of other popular brunch hotspots, Devon certainly lived up to expectations.  The restaurant was small but cozy, with a front section for takeout and limited bar seating and then a dine in section at the back.  Of course the first thing I ordered was my usual skim latte before I dissected the menu which offered an interesting selection of Western and Japanese fusion dishes.  We ended up agreeing that their two daily specials sounded most appealing that morning.  I wouldn’t normally think of ordering seafood for the first meal of the day but the miso grilled salmon paired with a smoked eel croquette and a 63 degree egg satisfied my cravings for breakfast type foods as well as my love for fish.  It was the best of both worlds and I definitely left a very happy customer.

While I am still waiting for Hong Kong to show a hint of cooler temperatures, my mind is already set on what Autumn has to bring.  I often reminisce about the changing of seasons back in Toronto, when the air becomes crisp and the leaves begin to change colour.   Although Hong Kong doesn’t display the sights of Autumn, it still offers many of the scents, flavours and thankfully, the fashion.

Luckily, I got to test out my Fall wardrobe during our visit to Sydney earlier. With Australia at the end of their Winter season, it was also the perfect opportunity to find hidden gems at their end of season sales. I love starting the season off with a great leather jacket or a structured blazer.  Besides the practicality behind a jacket for warmth, it instantly makes any outfit more polished and refined.  And if it’s not chilly enough, simply drape it over the shoulders for another classic look.  Just like how some guys leave an extra tie in the office for an impromptu meeting, I find jackets to come in handy for those last minute situations.  Even if you’re in a pair of skinny jeans and flats, add a tailored jacket and you’re ready to meet clients!
